Self-clinching floating nuts are specifically designed with an outer body and an inner nut that can float to compensate for any mating misalignment that may occur. This floating capability allows for successful assembly of the mating components, extending fully into the retainer shank, ensuring a secure and reliable connection.

These fasteners are particularly useful for thin sheets, as they provide load-bearing threads and allow for an adjustment of up to .030" / 0.76 mm to compensate for misaligned mating holes.
